I've been reading this forum for years and have found it interesting and helpful. Thank you everyone for help and opinions. I have never joined a forum of any type until now. Well, here it goes. For the first time I feel the need to put my 2cents in. I looked at this post and I really got angry. It's not even a iTunes thing for me but a "Wal-Mart is Evil Thing". This report is of no shock to me that some WM dude is threating retaliation. They do this every day by putting Mom & Pops out of business.

Thank you again. I feel better.
Now I hope to join everyone in future discussions.

Stand by and watch, what? What would Gaddafi do to the protesters? They're all armed now so it wouldn't end pleasantly.
It's being led by NATO and the US is not committing ground troops. It's a no-fly zone and I would have done the same if I were Obama.

"Jesus the Son of God" derives his very legitimacy through the alleged fulfilling of Old Testament prophecies. For a Christian to "avoid reading the old testament" is surely to deny his paternity.
Excellent point Skunk and I agree completely. Believers should make it priority to read and understand all of God's word, but unfortunately, like anything in life, sometimes we avoid what we find difficult , what we don't understand, or what we don't enjoy.
The sad fact is that many people who profess to be followers of Jesus don't spend the amount of time in the Bible that they should. It's not just an old vs. new testament thing it's a reading and studying the Bible at all thing. I know I'm not telling you anything that you don't already know as we have discussed it before in other threads. Christians who don't understand or know their faith well sometimes do more harm than good by spreading misinformation. If they would actually deepen their relationship with God through consistent time in his word then they would be a better representation of the truth the scriptures lay out.
However, I should point out that faith is a growing process. The goal is that people will mature in their faith over time as they grow in knowledge of and relationship with the Lord. I am not discouraged by new believers who are just starting out on in their walk with Christ. It's the long time believers who have neglected God's word or chosen to adhere to tradition over revealed truth that frustrate me.

Can we get the new ones with the school promotion?
Nope. You can read the PDF on the apple website for details.
seems kinda sly to unload the old nanos on poor students.
You're not suggesting we should feel sorry for someone getting a FREE nano, even if it's the previous model?
While many people are looking for Apple to integrate a radio tuner into the iPod it isn't going to happen.
They already have a radio tuner add-on if you really want one. Personally, the whole point of getting an iPod is so I can avoid radio.

Apple is primarily an American company and they know that the news cycle will be heavy with Election Results. They can wait until next week and get more bang for the same buck. Europe (Australia, Asia, etc. ) will be just as happy with a Nov. 14 release as Nov. 7.
Im in Australia, and a Nov 14 release would **** me right off...I may need to try and get one delivered by Nov 18...lol.

I'll have to check my iBook tonight, to see if I have one of the batteries. I'm guessing I do; I purchased my iBook in February and am still using the original battery. Oh well; it was ready for a new battery, anyway.

Has anyone else noticed that Sony is a horrible, horrible company?
Ridiculous proprietary formats. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sony#Proprietary_formats)
Offensive ad campaigns. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sony#Advertisements)
Rootkits in their cd's. (http://news.com.com/Sonys+rootkit+fiasco/2009-1029_3-5961248.html)
Blueray outrageous copy protection.
Now exploding batteries?
If I can help it, I will never knowingly buy a Sony product again.

Despite all the talk about paper having "superior resolution" to displays, the human eye can't really tell the difference in the size of the dots making up the print past a certain point.
The main reason displays cause eyestrain when trying to read something like a book is the fact that they're backlit. Basically, it's akin to staring into a small flashlight. The much talked-about "e-ink" or "e-paper" is interesting because it would simply work with reflected light from existing sources - just like reading real paper.
If the other "video ipod" rumors are true, Apple is looking at using the new "OLED" display technology for the next iPod. That's not going to be quite as "paper-like" as the "e-ink/e-paper" technologies, but should provide better contrast (and resolution) than LCD technology. So that means it will be better than most devices at reducing eyestrain while reading, but not as easy on the eyes as a real paper book either.
Yes. Yes it would.
Until display resolution matches paper resolution, the e-book will remain relatively unpopular.
This does seem to make a serious run at the "iPod for Education" crowd, though -- fighting to keep brand loyalty with the kids, I spose ...

I see them thinking that the iPod line should definitely move to a 100% touch-screen interface. However, like many people have already said, sometimes you just want a music player. I love having my entire music collection in my bag at any time with the Classic. They should keep it until they can truly beef up the capacity for the the Touch.

It looks as if the initial server load is starting to die down, because the guys at Bungie have finally flipped the switch to allow your player model to update in realtime again. This worked for a short while when the game first launched, but in order to cut down on some load, they turned the feature off. But now that we can see them, what is everyone using for their armor and stuff?? Here is my player...

Skunk and Sydde present facts. You can only present a faith-based belief which is based on assumptions, one of which is that the bible is divinely inspired. Clearly, this assumption can never be proven particularly to someone who does not believe that there is anything "divine" to begin with let alone that a particular set of works is the reference given by such. Assumptions based on assumptions is just too hard to swallow.

Yeah, not really into that mentality either. As for the previous 2 posters. thanks for the response, but it wasn't necessary to patronize me as if I don't know what a serious relationship entails, and make assumptions. You didn't really provide any further insight, besides 'I need to keep the peace'. I stated in my post, the only issue should be about money. If you can't afford it, you certainly shouldn't even ask your wife permission to buy it, its just irresponsible and childish. If you can afford it, the wife shouldn't be able to stop you 'just because'. Does she run her purchases by you? Doubtful. Not every ****ing thing needs to be a joint decision where 'approval' is required. In many relationships, what would happen if the husband refused to give permission to the wife to buy something she wants (ie. an overpriced piece of fabric or shiny rock)? He would be seen as cheap, assholish, rules with an 'iron fist', controlling, a bad husband, etc etc. It basically wouldn't stand. But the wife can have veto for purchasing decisions as she pleases, even though the guy brings home most or all of the income? That's called unreasonable, so **** that ****. But nice to know you're all cool with it. I guess they have the power to refuse sex, which leverage.
I TOTALLY agree with you!! I find it sad and disturbing at the same time. I can't even imagine that my girlfriend would actually tell me that i can't buy the ipad. Unless, of course, she has a good reason for it. I would find it normal when she tells me that it's, due to financial reasons, better not to buy the ipad, as a woman certainly should take responsibility over the household. If she doesn't have a good reason: I think it's really shameful for a woman to have the rudeness to tell a man what he HAS to do and what not. Why? Because they are the ones who have been complaining for years about men's domination and striving after equality. Is this equality?
In those relationships either two things are going on: 1. You picked the wrong wife. 2. you SOMEHOW must have lost your masculinity on the way of marrying a woman.
Oh, and just to prevent people from judging me: I'm not the kind of man who 'rules with iron fist'. I just find it shameful that nowadays men seem to be in control of women. Don't you guys think this is ridiculous?! It indeed strikes me that, like Slurpy2k8 said, men would be seen as assholish and cheap whenever they refuse to do something for a women. Things i've been seeing lately are definitely NOT about equality.
For the men who are in total ridiculous control of women: Please, get back at least some of your masculinity...

Why doesn't stuff like this happen to me.
I know right, a long time ago I took a friend to a grand opening of a mac store and they had door prizes...he won an iMac, he instantly became a PC turned Mac person, now he owns more Apple stuff than I do.
Oh yea, I got a door prize too...accounting software

What about the iPod OS? Isn't it on the hd, like the Nomad Jukebox of that time? I had one of those and it was easy, if expensive, to find hd larger than the original already formatted including the OS.
I believe that the core of the iPod OS resides in firmware. A bit of research reveals that after replacing the drive as seen here (http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Repair/iPod-Classic-Hard-Drive/564/1), putting the iPod into disk mode and restoring with iTunes will reinstall any missing pieces.
Apple hates physical buttons. No Apple device in the past ten years has ever moved backwards in the drive to eliminate physical buttons.
Button to open laptop display? Gone.
Latches for batteries? Gone.
Trackpad button? Gone.
Physical buttons on the iPod? Six.
Buttons on iPod Touch? Two (Four if you count the volume.)
Buttons for ejectable drives? Never existed.
Dude, you will never again see physical buttons for these things on an iDevice itself.
Why buy new if you intend to void the warranty? This is something I'll probably do in the coming few weeks myself. I think 1.8" HDD development's more or less plateaued as well.
Unfortunately, you are probably right. Though it would be nice to see one last revision of the Classic, I have a feeling that this is the end of the line. Also, a good point on the buy used bit. I tend to forget that the Classic is still two years old as is and used models are readily available on eBay, etc.

I use an ancient Handspring Visor to read ebooks and random articles I find online. The notes feature on the iPod is useless to me because it's too small. If Apple makes a decent e-reader for a big-screen iPod, it means one less thing I have to carry around with me on the train.
