Good for Apple...bad for consumers.
People with a Zune or any other player for that matter won't be able to download Beetles songs legally.

Did you just insult me and then agree with what I said?
Nope, he said the opposite of what you said.
You said the once the software is easy everyone will be able to edit well.
He said that editing well has nothing to do with how well you know the software.

It was all smooth sailing til tonight and my Macbook had a random shut down. I've had the firmware upgrade since the day it came out. I noticed this time I couldn't just try to power back up by pressing the power button. I had to either take out the battery and put it back in or plug it up to external power for atleast the start up.
Bleh, I was so relived that I wouldn't have to send it in with the firmware thingy, so much for that. :(
So everyone elses are doing fine?

I really wish Android Spambots would keep to Android forums.
Anyway, not unexpected. At least 5 of my immediate friends have switched from Windows to Mac after seeing my setup and how reliable and stable Mac's with OS X are.

I think you'd better use one of the Galaxy Tab, preferably while right next to an iPad, before you freely recommend the Galaxy Tab as a replacement.
I've tried a Galaxy Tab 7" and really liked the smaller form factor... but just for playing games. For surfing and email, I'd find 7" a little too small, but a 7" tablet is large enough to provide details and ease of control, but small enough to comfortably fit in your hands.
I didn't try it out long enough to really put it through its paces or to develop an opinion of how the OS fits together, but I had a really nice 5 minute experience with it.
BTW, I own an iPad and I'm happy with it, but I do admire the build quality of a lot of the tablets coming out. Everyone who's in the game seems to be putting out something that actually feels like a solid piece of hardware instead of the cheap feeling laptops that they usually produce.

If you think the stereo mixes are good, you NEED to find a copy of the mono mixes. They are much better, and much more in keeping with the original vision of the songs. The Beatles (and Martin/Emerick/others) largely ignored the stereo mixes until the late 60s' because it wasn't a popular format. In some cases, the mono mixes are drastically different than the stereo. And THAT was the way the songs were originally intended.
The word "remix" has taken on a bad connotation lately. The songs shouldn't be "rearranged" (as is the common understanding of "remix"), but the actual elements need re-balancing, mostly in the area of placement in the stereo field (as others have pointed out). Plus the actual sonic quality of the CDs is poor, and the mixes, as they stand today, need to be remastered in higher quality digital.
I agree and disagree.
agree that the mono mixes are better. but leave the stereo ones alone. they can remaster them if they want... but I dont think the actual mixes should be messed with. I certainly dont trust Sir Paul to be sitting in front of the mixing console saying to George martin "hey, can we turn up the sap?" if all the beatles were alive, maybe. but I'd rather them release the albums with both Stereo and mono mixes on them. like Beach boys did with Pet sounds (and its still only 12.99)

Haha, Kesha who?
Comment again when you are 18, if she is still around in 6 years:-)
Maybe the Beatles should have worn meat suits...
Is this close enough for you?

Um free is for a limited time only and you have to buy a $1000+ computer. Anyone who buys a $1000+ Mac should get a break on an iPod too. There is a reason why there is a whole education section on the Apple Online Store. Without students support, the iPod wouldn't be anywhere near the cultural icon that it is. Guess what, most students don't have a set income but their patronage is very important to Apple and iPods in general. And I'm 25, Mommy and Daddy haven't payed for me for a long time. So now who is trolling. (Hint: the guy who puts offensive posts up with big upper cased red letters)
Duh. I knew you weren't rich because you're a student and because you're complaining about money. That's why I said "you sound like a spoiled brat," not "you are a spoiled brat." And get over yourself, Apple owes you nothing. If you don't like their products or their pricing, then don't buy their stuff. It's as simple as that. I won't be replying again, I'm done with this conversation.

Anyways, I'm glad to be gay - some heterosexual couples I know seem to be living in a d/s relationship, not quite the kind of thing I'm interested in.
Oh, and of course it's a nice move by Apple :P

"2008. There's something in the air."
It's fun wondering about what it might be. Hope the secret is something we all find delightful.
That's the most wishful thinking sentence I'm read on MacRumors in a long time. There's always someone who didn't get what they wanted, whether it is too expensive, too big, too small, too underpowered, too aluminum, or too much not like the PowerBook G5. Within 5 minutes of every announcement, the excitement and happiness is drowned out by the disappointed whines...

3D.
If it requires overpriced glasses, it ruins the pictures colors and looks awkward.
If it does not require overpriced glasses, you will get a headache and possibly vomit.
For me, it just never works unless I use the RealD glasses at theaters, but those make my ears and head hurt after a while. Other than that, the quality is typically fine.
The fact that I recently got prescription glasses makes it much worse :(
Down with 3D

Ok I guess i won't be able to get the new nano with the student offer, which doesn;t bother me that much as I *should* get a hundred pounds back. However as it seems the price has gone down a little on the 4GB nano i added does that mean i still have to pay the old price? That seems a little unfair when it hasn't even shipped yet I'm paying more then if I had waited a couple of days? I ordered on Friday btw.

That's not a poster, it's a big iPhone. They've got one in every store window. Different images scroll from bottom to top. Obviously this photo is in mid scroll.
BTW - All the iphones in iPhone commercials are very different than my iPhone. They show a small little photo of the person calling instead of a big full screen photo. Don't know why. It's the same in this ad.
ahhh..Gotcha..Duh.

Those prices are just crazy... Who the %&## will pay $250-$400 for a Win OS??? Especially since you know you will need additional anti-virus/spyware...
If this is true, M$ just shot themselves in the foot. There are viable OS alternatives today that are both better and cheaper.
This could be the fat lady's que for her her swan song.

I do hope if they are going to up the megapixelage for marketing purposes, they at least give us more memory in the base configuration to handle all the extra space the photos are gonna waste.
Unless of course Sony has secretly created the greatest sensor in the history of the world and the 8MP can be justified. That would be nice.
+1
We need 64GB as an option here.
8MP would be nice but I hope it's gonna be a good quality sensor as well.

American foreign policy has indeed come up quite short in the foresight department. However, Khadahphee (or however it gets spelt) rose to power with no real assistance from other countries and has only been supported indirectly, through people buying oil. The only support Libya gets from the US is indirect, from irresponsible excess in oil consumption that keeps the prices up for everyone.
You'd be right except for our military ties to Libya.

Seems we've played a significant role in arming Libya in recent history, though not nearly as much as European nations.

This is awesome news! Sounds like iOS 5 will now give Google's Voice Actions for Android a run for its money. Ha...I even have the Siri app on my home screen (which I seldom use) but after WWDC and seeing its integration into iOS 5, I'll be using it or whatever it will be called a lot more often. Looking forward to WWDC '11! :D
Speech text has been my major gripe with iOS. Less important... yet important, is free, voice-integrated GPS solutions. Apple can provide good turn by turn in Maps without significantly undercutting carrier solutions, but it's a gamble. As the iPhone doesn't change carrier to carrier, this would be an annoyance to carriers.
The reason I see voice commands as so closely related to mapping, is that I've had instances where quickly telling the phone where I need to go, isn't just helpful... It's almost been vital. For instance, going to the emergency room, or rerouting while driving. Holding down the home button and being able to say, "I need to get to the nearest hospital" is a lot better than tapping away for 10-15 vital seconds.
I also love that even Siri is as interactive as iPhone's voice commands. It asks follow up questions and seems genuine,y helpful. The idea you could hold a button, and give a more "Siri" friendly command like "I'd like you to play some music like 'Torn' by Natalie Imbruglia" would be fantastic. Holding again and saying, "--and what's the weather going to be like on Friday?" Is also amazing. Every time Siri answers any form of that question, including "for the next two days" or "while I'm visiting Birmingham, AL"... it just floors me.
Currently Android doesn't do most of it's voice commands over Bluetooth, while everything iOS uses voice commands is so great because of it. The best part of voice commands is not taking anything out of your pocket, and feeling like you've got someone at your beck and call while walking through the store with your Bluetooth headphones on and your hands in your pockets. ;o)
