Oh Land...pretty Pop flavor appears @ trendy Cafe Du Nord! San Francisco! April 13th!

Oh Land, the pretty bombshell Pop Singer making waves around the country with her hit dance tune -"Son of a Gun" - is sashaying into San Francisco to open for "Francis and Lights" at the Cafe Du Nord on Wednesday Night (April 13th).

Readers at the Tattler may recall that I posted a review of her live! Stage Performance which I caught at The Abbey in WeHo a few weeks ago.

Since then, as predicted, the Danish lovely - with oodles of talent and charisma to boot - has been trotted out to perform for gushing audiences on the Late Night talk-show circuit (Dave Letterman, for example).

Oh Land - while thrilled with the attention - remains down-to-earth and realistic.

"So, already at 10,  I was aware that I could be replaced by somebody else at any time. I definitely grew up with a number on my belly," she confided to a reporter at the San Francisco Examiner.

"Because at Ballet school (which she vigorously attended in her youth), half of the ones they took in each year were thrown out the next, and you would get a letter each year, telling you if you could continue or not. It was quite horrible," she recalled in horror.

And, you thought the Black Swan (Natalie Portman) had it bad!

Now, in the realms of the Pop spotlight, does she have to worry about being just a flavor of the month?

West Hollywood...all-male gay City Council looms on horizon! Political times are-a-changing!

A candidate for West Hollywood City Council - known for hanging an effigy of Sarah Palin on his roof during the 2008 Presidential Race - is running alongside five other fresh faces in the upcoming election on Tuesday.

John Heilman - the current Mayor (a City Council bench-warmer since 1984 when the boon town was first incorporated as a "gay" city) - is fighting for his seat with two fellow council members (Abbe Land and Lindsay Horvath).

The bid for power in WeHo - affectionately known to the locals as "gay gulch" - is expected to be a contentious battle right up until the last ballot is cast.

In the event the six upstarts nab three available seats, WeHo would make history for voting in the country's first all-male gay City Council.

Subsequently, there has been an outcry from a handful of the locals.

"Certainly it would be quite unique and historic. But straight women and lesbians are feeling like - "If these guys get there who is going to look out for us" - one resident piped up a bit indignantly to one media outlet.

On the other hand, quite a few contented WeHo males are happy with the status quo, and the way the city is growing.

Even still, candidates have been focusing their debates on parking restrictions, over development in the neighborhood (too many unsightly odd-ball Condo Units, for example, in place of quaint cottages that were once the norm), and the need to preserve LGBT culture in the community.

Personally, I'm all for new "blood" in City Council chambers!

Getting folks out to the polls will be key in accomplishing that task!

See 'ya there!

WeHo image of being a par-tay town!

Oh-Land...live performance @ Abbey a hit with locals! Copenhagen beauty's star on rise!

On the rounds of WeHo last night, I stumbled onto a very special live performance by Copenhagen beauty with an unusual name - Oh-Land - at the ever-popular Abbey.

The fresh-faced talent has a captivating stage presence and a great sound!

Surprisingly - in spite of the limited acoustics and small ill-equipped stage at the Robertson Blvd hang-out - the sexy pop singer managed to turn out a set that was vastly entertaining.

Oh-land was definitely a crowd-pleaser!

When she gazed into the audience, even the jaded locals who frequent the trendy watering hole, melted away.

Once Oh-Land began to rock the stage, the house was up - dancing & clapping - and cheering the sensual chanteuse on.

One of her handlers, who introduced her last night to the enthusiastic pub crawlers, noted that an album will debut in March.

And, it was also announced that Oh-Land has already managed to snag the eye of talent scouts around the country.

No wonder!

In the near future, Oh-Land (who graciously spelled out her name to me backstage amidst a throng of delighted fans) is expected to appear on a handful of the top-rated talk shows on Network TV in the near future.

I expect that her career will zoom into the stratosphere once America is introduced to this gorgeous talented young woman.

Oh-Land may give Lady Gaga a run for her money!

West Hollywood...City Council Members attend "Fresh East" Dragon Dance ceremony!

When Pavilions renovated their WeHo flagship grocery store this year, they also erected a row of spanking new retail outlets, to attract tenants along trendy Santa Monica Boulevard at Robertson.

Last night, as I was whizzing by the festive lot decorated for the Yuletide Season, I spied "Fresh East" (an upscale eatery featuring Asian Cuisine) tossing an opening-night party to kick-off their entree into the multi-cultural community.

Inside - as Council Members John Heilman and Abbe Land gazed on from the sidelines - a spectuacular Dragon Dance wowed all the guests ready to chow down on the delectable eats about to be offered up.

According to Eastern tradition, a Dragon Dance - replete with a riot of clanging bells and jolting percussion beats - is a ceremonial must to drive away evil spirits at New Year - and thus - bestow good fortune and blessings on the business establishment in the months ahead.

Judging by the festivities I was witness to last evening, Fresh East is off-and-running, to sure-fire success in WeHo!

Good fortune, eh?
