I've been very disappointed with these MacBooks. All of the problems I've had and all of the problems I've heard about have proven, in my opinion, that Apple's quality is no longer what it used to be.
Apple charges a nice premium for their machines, one which I am willing to pay, assuming I get a better quality computer, but I don't believe this is the case.
Apple's reluctance to replace problematic MacBooks just adds to the issue.
I would suggest that Apple implement some quality control for their MacBook line, but we all know what happens when they do. ;)

Google for "thread 500" and click the top match--always hilarious :)
If the new nanos played games and videos (I know--really small) I'd HAVE to buy one. So I'm glad they don't :)
The case combines the best of the Mini and Nano--all good.
So why are there no nano games? Just because the screen is so small?

Just remembering the iMac Dock patent - the dock communicated with the notebook wirelessly. I suspect this is what the "Something's in the Air" posters are about. Imagine if the new ultra-thin Notebook has no cables at all - doesn't even have any sockets - maybe not even power socket or USB. It charges through contact conduction, and talks to the dock & optical drive via WiFi or some proprietary wireless protocol design for this purpose.
By eliminating all connectors, and the associated electronics, they can probably make a notebook thinner than anyone has ever seen before.

It's bad enough that the suite will be updated every year (.5 edition) and now the subscription too?
Am I understanding correctly: no updates for the mid-term suite for those that plunge for the more expensive bi-annual package? Boo.
I feel bad for all the designers/photographers/filmmakers (part of companys and esp. freelance/new graduates). How the hell will folks be able to afford upgrading every year and/or two years. This doesn't include the time and possible addition outlay to work around the learning curves for all new bells, whistles, bs etc.
I guess I stopped using Adobe's product at the right time. This just makes my wallet and brain cringe massively.

LOL. The old thread is absolutely hilarious. Nothing, NOTHING has changed in 10 years. The stuff discussed on these forums today is exactly the same. Kinda makes you think if it's even worth reading as it's all the same anyway. :)
I personally like the "big" capacity of the classic but am not a fan of the UI. Although, I don't think the UI of the iPod Touch/iPhone is the best for a music only device either. Anyway, I'm glad I have the 160GB classic as it fits all my music right now and at least for a few years probably. I would like to see Apple revamp it completely and make it better and easier to use/more intuitive in every way and hooking it up with that 220GB HDD release a while ago instead of just killing it off and introducing a 128GB iPod Touch. I don't think this will happen though. :(

my battery is one of the one's that needs replaced, but the website won't take the serial number (verified by someone at apple) and tech support is clogged for the day, so hopefully sometime later this week i can get a battery sent to me. anyway, if anyone else goes there and has the 5 digit number in the range but it won't take your serial number be sure to call apple because it could be a website error.

The banner has a huge :apple: underneath the slogan. It is branded and definitely Apple. Something in the air is probably iTunes Movie Rentals with Apple TV or the new iMac (don't know how something in the air applies to iMac but I'm sure Steve will enlighten us) ;)
Yeah, thanks.
When I posted, we only had a single solitary image which had no branding.
Ignore what I said, I was just speculating as I haven't seen Apple ever deviate from Myriad Pro Semibold. However, it seems they are just using a light version of the same font.

Why such a great camera on the iphone and such loser ones on the ipad?
iPhones are actually more expensive to make than iPads. Thats why you are forced to make a contract with a carrier because when you first get your phone, the carriers are loosing money. It takes two whole months for the carriers to make back all the money they spent on an iPhone.
That is why the iPhone can be cheaper and have better specs than an iPad could ever have. That is why I believe that the iPhone is actually Apples most advanced technology!

No it will not as I do not support cutting back on the Military ...
You're in Canada? And you don't support the United States cutting back? Would you like anything else? May I bring you a comfy pillow to prop your feet upon, and a little something from Tim Horton's?
My point was, how 'bout if the USA reduces its military spending to $1 less than the Canadian military budget? Then the Canucks are the badasses, and we Yanks fall in line with the rest of the world. Everybody's happy.

Developers aren't the problem. A lot of it is Internet Explorer and Microsoft not supporting standards. For one, IE doesn't do much html5. Microsoft will probably never support the svg-based "flash killer" canvas tag. Also, due to bickering on all browser makers, HTML5 doesn't specify a mandatory video format so you have Apple doing mpeg-4, Firefox and friends doing ogg, and IE supporting nothing. And let's not forget users who still run IE6.
No, LETS PLEASE forget about users running IE6. For GOD's sake, It's an 8 year old browser!

It was all smooth sailing til tonight and my Macbook had a random shut down. I've had the firmware upgrade since the day it came out. I noticed this time I couldn't just try to power back up by pressing the power button. I had to either take out the battery and put it back in or plug it up to external power for atleast the start up.
Bleh, I was so relived that I wouldn't have to send it in with the firmware thingy, so much for that. :(
So everyone elses are doing fine?

Does it mean that apple takes your battery back whether you like it or not? Because it might explode?
They "recycle" the casing. As in use it again. They dispose the battery.
Apparently only nine cases of exploding/flammable batteries have been documented.
And if you don't send it back they will bill you. The cost for not returning the defected battery will be stated in the packaging of the replacement.

To an unbeliever, a person is born morally neutral. Their actions can only be graded on the basis of how others are impacted, because "good" and "bad" often change drastically based on one's perspective.
I think what you said is very interesting and insightful. I have a big problem with the concept of original sin, or that people need saving in some way.
If I could just pick out some small thing?
I'm not sure everyone is born strictly neutral. There is a lot of evidence to show morality is, in part, evolutionary. I'm not saying people are born to be automatically wonderful, but if there was no structured society people would not all become mass murderers. Therefore I'd say people (with a few exceptions) are born with very basic morality already in place. However, upbringing and society can add or detract from this.
Of course, this is viewed by a modern standard, and as you suggested- what is "good" and what is "bad" without a standard to judge it by? My head hurts!

Wonderful composition! I really like how you choose to freeze the water as opposed to showing it flow. The reflected light, the symmetry - all great stuff.
Thanks!

If they increase the amount of RAM to 1GB they could increase the amount the integrated graphics use to around 128mb, the current 64mb is a bit low.

Microsoft surely want to go for the easy-to-use appeal, but with just so many upgrade options, people are going to be confused from the onset. I really should apply for a Microsoft marketing position, I could take the company places (although it'd compete with the superior OS, i could make a lot of money in the mean time :p)

No iMac Ultra!!!
*cries again*
*snuffle*
Maybe tomorrow? Can only hope. They can't not update the iMac forever...
BTW. I don't think many people expected the Mac Pro to be quite that awesome. FOUR slots that support graphics cards??? WOOHOO! And how many people doubted the quad 3Ghz? A lot, I know you're out there. Eight 30" screens??? That's INSANE!
If this is what Apple bring out for their Mac Pro, my standards for iMac Ultra have now changed.
30" HD screen, 2x SLI X1900's (do they make gig x19's? If they do, they'll be in it) and the 3.2 Ghz C2DE. The new Macbook Pro will surelly get a single x1900, and a 2.67 C2D. Maybe a 19" version? The former still less than 4G, the second less than 5G ($AU).
Both with an overdrive function that overclocks both CPUs and GPUs by a factor of 2. After all, if this beast can dissipate 300W in just graphics cards, let alone 160W of CPU power, plus four high performance hard disks, power supply, etc, etc, etc, surelly my expectations aren't too high...
Sounds reasonable to me after meeting the one true beast.
