My needs are basic and selfish:
iPhone - 3G and 16g
MacBook Pro - bump (highly unlikely) and only cause I'm in the market.
Mac Pro - nothing. It sounds perfect and has only complicated my purchase consideration. Mac Pro vs MacBook Pro. Hmmmm....

In what way is "McDonalds responsible?"
Were the shareholders involved in the senseless beating?
Was the CFO video taping the thing?
Was the COO telling the perps to "run"?
Nope.
How about we hold the degenerates who put fist to flesh responsible rather than scapegoating the big bad business?
IMO, scapegoating McDonalds only cheapens the issue. Now if you want to talk about the EMPLOYEES responsibilities for ensuring a safe environment for customers, that is another issue that I will fully support.
For christ's sake dude, would you read the OP? Because that's all this is about. I had to shorten the headline to get it to fit and it somewhat changed the meaning, which was unintentional. But the intent of the petition is to get the employees involved punished. That's all. Don't worry, McDonald's poor precious shareholders aren't being targeted by the big, bad, nasty librool on MacRumors.

All you have shown is a deep-seated fear of advertising. And it's been stated that Apple doesn't actually collect this data, so it isn't even being used for iAds.
How exactly, specifically, will this cell phone tower tracking info compromise your personal safety? What exactly is there to fear? There must be something more than targeted advertising, which is at best an annoyance you have to live with anyway.
Some people just don't like to be tracked. If the data fell into to hands of an untoward person, then there might be an issue.

Gay suffrage? Wow i never knew gays were denied the right to vote!
Totally off topic, but I started this thread, so I can!
Did you ever see that Man Show video when the guys set up a table and tried to get women to sign a petition to end women's suffrage? A lot of them did, too!

1) Do you want to make things that are "insanely great".
or
2) Do you want to make the most amount of money?
So what is it Apple, are you cynical marketeers, or are you creators of and encouragers of that which is insanely great?
Not so sure it has to be one or the other. Oh mac rumors posters we just love to polarize things to make our point.
As i see it the app store awards are "mostly" a win-win. Developers who receive the award get promoted to the hilt by apple because now promoting and selling apps becomes more relevant to Apple's enlightened self interest (pocket book). The developers will reap more sales($) than they did relative to previous years, because of more active promotion by apple - e.g. a prominent award listing on the app store.
Welcome to good business folks this is what it looks like - it has a lot to do with both parties banking more from the deal.

Three new toys to own (MacBook Air, :apple:tv 2, and Time Capsule) plus an update for my existing toy - iPhone.
Count me as pleased.
Now hopefully an MBP refresh will happen next Tuesday.

Apple Apple Apple... or should I say Steve Steve Steve...
What you are doing right now is what a psychologist would call "diverting." You are simply trying to take away the focus of your own iPhone 4's faults and place everyone's attention on other brands that we do not care about. You admitted you screwed up (congratulations, that is a great first step). Now it is time to take another baby step and fix the problem... your problem... the iPhone 4.
If this is the case then everyone should be complaining to every single cell phone manufacturer and demand a recall from them too. I don't hear or see that, though.

No, my point was to scale it back to what it was before 9/11 and maintain both domestic and international security at the pre 9/11 level of international security.
Before 9/11 I could walk right to my gate in several major airports.

My answer is that I don't know what purpose it serves, and neither do you. This does not mean it's dangerous.
Can it be used for nefarious purposes? That depends. No one really knows a lot about it. There's not a whole lot anyone can do by tracking what cell ....
Stand fanboy crap refusing to answer the question.
*LTD* That is not an answer to the question.
To me your refusal to answer screams that You are nothing more than a blind Apple fanboy who refuses to think for once self. The question gave you a broad latitude to answer it but you refused to.
This tells me if it was ANY ONE else but Apple you would be all over it. But because it is Apple you will worship it and say it is good.
So if you feel it is so GOOD. PROVIDE REASONS.
We have provided list of bad reasons and you have yet to provide a single good reason. You seem to be defending it so therefor you must have a long list of good reasons for it. So provide some good reasons why Apple should be data collecting like this.
For Cell phone providers I can understand why but I have yet to see a single reason why Apple or Google should.
At least when ask why Google responded. Apple has yet to respond and that is worry some.

NSA does not have a security expert at Apple. Apple has a security expert who used to be with the NSA. Big difference.
To your knowledge, they dont.

The phone will be the 4s. The start of production of the CDMA phone in Aug 2010 threw everything off kilter.
The 4s will be a 4 with the 3.7 screen, and a A5 chip. That is it. Period.
The 5 will be out in 2012 with Qualcomms 2nd gen Dual Band Chip which will be ready early 2012. It will will be a complete redesign with LTE. My money is on some type of new chassis with a new hybrid aluminum. The back glass will be gone for sure.
Apple will then produce 1 World iPhone. 5,6,7,8,9.... all Global Phones. :apple:
I'd say that's pretty plausible.
[EDIT] I don't know if I agree with all the names though, but honestly that matters not.

I'm sorry, but these video stunts are just bogus and have no credibility. Clearly on 3 of them the person holding the phone is applying a lot of vice-like pressure and squeezing the phones as hard as possible. You can see the arm shaking from applying so much force and the thumb turns red. Do they think people are that stupid? That is far removed from realistic usage of the phones, whereas the problem with the iPhone 4 is just touching it in a certain spot.
Apple is making it worse because instead of just being honest and forthcoming, they are now lying and trying to distract from the real issue. People will be understanding and wouldn't care if Apple would just be contrite, educate people about facts and make an attempt to rectify the situation. They did that by giving away the bumpers and sharing the data about dropped calls which helps their case that it is still a great phone, but everything else they have done damages their brand. Their attempt to mislead people from the facts is not helping.
What real issues?
Apple are selling iPhones as fast as they can make them.
Aside from a tiny minority on the internet, the avg. joe is out there enjoying and using their new iPhone. If it was a big issue as the media portrayed it, Apple wouldn't be selling a single unit.
You people are funny.

- if you asked an iPad 2 speculator, it is $$$ and more $$$
- if you asked an iPad 2 user who want to buy one from shop, it is queue up, disappointed, queue up, disappointed, queue up, disappointed, (endless)
- if you asked the Apple Online shop, it is "Ships: Currently unavailable"
- if you asked the retailed shop manager, "you need to buy this with a protected screen at USD70 and case at US60"
- if you asked the retailed shop staff, "No stock....but we have reserved for other customer, do you really want one urgently? Take it, with the crap accessories at USD100."

About 2 hours prior to sparrow-fart.
3am... can't wait to spend yet another late night in front of the computer waiting for Apple to release yet another product I can't afford.
At about 2am try downloading itunes manually from the itunes page. It will still say 6.x but it may very well be 7. That should keep you occupied for a bit :D Twice i have noticed they upload the new version but keep the previous version number on the page until its announced. I had a play with 5 and 6 about half an hour before they were officially released. :D

Not to condone OP's actions in any way, but karma isn't real.
People should conduct themselves according to their moral code, not out of fear that the universe will somehow reward or punish them. This is the 21st century, it's time mankind grew up and took some personal responsibility. There is no "higher power" judging our actions.
But thats so sad....to be all alone...Is there really no higher power? Not even the Flying Spaghetti Monster?

Seeing as that it doesn't have any place for the antenna (like the black area towards the top of the 3G iPad), i'm very skeptical with this picture.
I agree to be skeptical, but the antenna could have access through the front of the iphone. It does not necessarily have to be through the back shell.
