So, maybe i'm just crazy or something but i really want to try this. I've been waiting to get a Apple laptop some time now and i think this would be a great intoduction to OSX.
And now somebody is probably thinking im going to do this the illegal way.. But NO, several of my friends run OSX so no problem in getting OSX.
I just need help with the install and stuff, so hoped someone else was lose minded enough to help...
First off i have....
P4 (Northwood) 2.66Ghz, 533Mhz FSB, stepping 7 revision c1
Im not sure but think it supports: PAE, SSE, SSE2, MMX
So what build am i to use, so far as i can see it should be 10.4.6 or 10.4.5???

Getting Mac OS X from your friend and installing it onto your pee cee is illegal. You must purchase Mac OS X from Apple or Amazon or whoever.
Getting OS X without paying for a license (which is what you are insinuating) is illegal. Just because you didn't download the software and got it from a friend doesn't make it legal, dumbass.

it's cable internet. the company is mediacom. it's the only cable company out here. but i guess i might have to go dsl if they don't fix it
I have Mediacom too, I'm supposed to have really fast service, it's ok most of the time but here is what cnet's speed test (http://reviews.cnet.com/internet-speed-test/) gave me.

Yes, they are not compliments, but just comments. You can't really call that harassment, which is what you said. Its fine that you enjoy your apple products, but when you start a thread called "so many people envy iphone 4 owners," and claim other smartphone users are jealous of you because they cant afford an iphone (when android/palm/win7 phones cost about the same), then it seems a bit more fanboy-ish and snobby. Just don't say things like "people say things to me about such and such, so they must be jealous of me."
I actually agree with you. I'm not saying this phone is perfect, plenty of people have asked me about the pros and cons and I've told them, this might sound odd but I don't really understand the concept of being a fanboy over a phone. I mean, its just a phone. However, when people don't stop with the snide remarks and are constantly trying to compete when you don't care, it becomes somewhat annoying. I'm not saying that all other smart phones owners are jealous of my iPhone, I think we can all agree thats nonsense.
However there do seem to be people that are quick to compete and show their resentment for Apple when they see others with iPhones, the majority of comments in this thread confirm that.

That's a very public beta which has been steadily improved over that time (the last update was yesterday). Unlike Apple, Adobe haven't charged for the beta experience. Amusingly, some of the top new Apple "innovations" are clones of Lightroom features.
Sorry, but Apple released Aperture BEFORE Adobe did the same with its app...so it's easier to have a clone of Apple's app, not the opposite...:rolleyes:

Everything and I mean *everything* is constantly being shared from these developer's builds. Check youtube. It is what it is. There are no killer features in iLion. Certainly nothing like going from Tiger to Leopard.
Multi-User Screen Sharing is a killer feature for me. Versions is a killer feature for me. Those two alone are worth the upgrade.

That is the very first thing I thought of. I remember that rejection and how ridiculous it was for 2 reasons.
1: She was trying to promote Apple's iAds! How does it hurt Apple?
2: Has Apple seen all the apps that could easily be called "not required" or "redundant"?

i've a feeling that there's some wierd law that i heard of that all films being launched europe wide had to be launched simultanously in all languages. not sure if that's true or not but that might affect european films coming through (sorry bout the spelling, me no like words :) )

Or nothing at all and they are just doing a 'front page' featuring all the various tablets you can get. they have gotten bad PR for doing that and not having any in stock which could be why they are holding non pre-orders.

Because they are starting to get some bad press and complaints about the wait. Which is also why they have been told not to take anymore pre-orders for the time being.

You guys don't get it do you, the promotion is not for the iPad, they are going to use some stock of the iPad to promote some other stuff and make money. The iPad is the draw in this case, not the promotion in and of itself.

Doesn't the status bar look taller? I remember a thread on here talking about how they overheard engineers discussing iOS 5 and that was one of the things that would be different. It was going to allow for an SBSettings type of thing and maybe a place for notifications to scroll? Anyways, cool. But I think this is fake.
